WHAT WE DO

Supporting people on their journey of recovery

The Irish Advocacy Network offers a peer advocate service to anyone who is experiencing mental health difficulties.  We aim to help our clients on their road to recovery, and to empower them to take back control of their lives.

We do this primarily by speaking to our clients to get a sense of where they are within themselves.  All of our advocates have overcome mental health challenges, so we know what it's like to feel lost and powerless.  We're here to show people that recovery is possible, and even the darkest periods of our lives eventually pass.

We ensure that our clients know what their rights are, or what if they have been sectioned, what are the procedures of the hospital and what are options open to them with regard to their own care.  We know from experience that clear and unbiased information is a very powerful tool, and we strive to ensure that mental health service users are properly informed with the information that they need.  That may only take an hour, or it may takes years, to us it doesn't matter.  We're here to support people in their recovery, no matter how long it takes.

We also offer a suite of training programmes that can are designed to build individuals and groups to their fullest potential so they can have an active voice in mental health services in Ireland.
